Services

Doors that need looking after, not just fixing

Most garage door failures give warning months in advance — a noise, a wobble, a door that hesitates. Servicing catches those. The rest of the time we are there because something already broke.

Home garage door service

A full check of springs, cables, rollers, tracks and the opener, with the door balanced by hand and the travel limits reset. Roughly annual for a door used every day.

Roller door repair

Curtains that creep or jam, worn drums and the bottom rail damage that comes from reversing into it. Common on single-skin doors in coastal suburbs.

Openers & remotes

Motors that hesitate, remotes that will not pair, and safety beams knocked out of alignment. Repaired where sensible, replaced where the gearbox has gone.

How it works

Four steps, whether it is one door or forty

Step 1Call

What the door is doing

A noise, a hesitation, a door that stopped. For a business, which site and which opening.

Step 2Quote

Priced before we drive out

Including whether the part is already in stock. If it is not, you are told the day it lands.

Step 3Visit

Domestic or after hours

Homes during the day, shopfronts and warehouses outside trading hours. You pick the window.

Step 4Record

Filed against the door

What was found, what was done and when the next service is due. Emailed, not scribbled on a docket.

Before you book anyone

Four questions worth asking about a service visit.

Servicing is easy to charge for and hard to see afterwards. These four make the difference between a real visit and a quick look.

  • Ask whether the door gets balanced by handWith the motor disconnected a correctly tensioned door should stay put halfway. If nobody tested that, the springs were not really checked.
  • Ask what the report will sayA list of what was inspected, what was adjusted and what is wearing. If the answer is a verbal all good, there is nothing to compare against next year.
  • Ask when the next service is dueIt depends on cycles, not the calendar. A door opened six times a day and a rarely used rear shutter are not on the same schedule.
  • Ask what is covered and what is billedConsumables and adjustment are usually included; springs, motors and panels are not. Settle that before the visit, not after.

Questions we get on the phone

Straight answers

Do you work on houses, or only commercial?

Both, and roughly half our work is domestic. The same technicians service a suburban sectional door and a warehouse roller shutter — the parts differ, the mechanics do not.

How often should a home door be serviced?

About once a year for a door used daily, less for one that barely moves. Coastal suburbs are harder on the hardware and usually want it sooner.

My door is noisy but it still works.

That is the best time to ring. Noise is usually rollers or bearings, and both are cheap to replace before they take the track or the spring with them.

Can you service a door you did not install?

Almost always, whatever brand it is. The first visit doubles as a condition check so you know what you have inherited.

Can one agreement cover several sites?

Yes. Every door carries an identifier and gets its own history, so you can see at a glance which site is costing you money.

Do you do emergency breakdowns?

We attend them, but a dedicated breakdown service will usually reach you faster. What we are set up for is making sure you do not need one.
